Inslee Signs Executive Order to Protect Orcas, Chinook Salmon

In Puget Sound, the Southern Resident killer whale population has declined since 1995. The diets of Southern Residents consist largely of Chinook salmon, which are listed on federal and state endangered species lists. Recognizing the dire need to protect both these species, Governor Jay Inslee signed an executive order outlining a strategy for Chinook and Southern Resident recovery.
